I bought a generic Barbie spincast setup for my daughters sixth birthday and let her have it early to learn to cast and play around with it, in hopes of taking her to the stream to catch a few after her birthday. I was very unimpressed with the Barbie setup as I stupidly bought the model with no adjustable drag. That thing is seriously just a learning toy. Wanting to get her something with at least a adjustable drag, I went searching for something suitable. Stumbled on this and a few others like this, and decided this was the one I was gonna try out.For the money it’s pretty nice and solid and held up pretty well! It’s no loomis Stella combo, but what do you expect? Pole and reel feel solid and good quality. The tackle box, while mostly useless for where I fish was a nice compliment. The bag is awesome. The adjustable drag is a little jerky, but actually worked pretty damn well. Main thing is that it works. It definitely did. My daughter had a blast. I’m gonna let her fish it inshore this upcoming season. Lube it up with some corrosion X grease and oil and see if it can withstand a little salt. My bet is that it will. I’d definitely recommend this for children just learning how to fish.Bought this for my 2 year old grand daughter who loves to fish with me. She can't cast it yet but her 9 year old sister can easily and then it is just the right size for the 2 year old. Now if I could figure out how to get her to leave the line in the water longer she might actually catch something. Her mother was holding it for her one time and caught a nice 14 inch rainbow on it so I know it will work fine as she grows more into it. She is the 3rd of her sisters to take up fishing and lives it as much as her older sisters. She even used it for catching crawfish off the rocks with some bacon and was able to get quite a few of them to bite even in her impatience. Great starter rod for any age child just get them the right length and let them at it.This rod and reel combo is a great little package. We do a lot of cat fishing so the bells in the box are a favorite with the kids. We have accumulated a few different versions of plussino & Oddspro rods/reels for our backpack setup. The telescoping feature makes them great for traveling around without breaking a rod or getting hung up on trees etc. while changing spots in wooded areas. This version is very easy-casting compared previous models. Kudos to Oddspro for the improvements.Perfect little fishing kit for kids. I have one for each of my kids and just leave them in the truck. We can head to the lake anytime and be ready to catch some panfish. They take up almost no room, yet has everything needed in one convenient case. My kids love them and for the price, they are perfect for the spur of the moment cast or two. Solid little rod/reel combo. Will handle most anything that will bite. No need to spend a fortune, just grab one or two of these and keep them in your vehicle. Happy Fishing!Decent for a telescopic pole, the price is fine, it does what it says on the tin. Don't expect a St. Croix, but it'll let your lil'un have fun pulling in bluegill and smaller fish all day long just fine. I don't know about its overall sturdiness as we've only been out once, but it had no issues on the trip, which is unusual for less expensive gear, so that's a good sign.She used this pole on her first time ever fishing and loved it.The combo is a perfect combo for a young girl to start fishing I recommend itDidn't expect too much from this kids pole, but it is very easy to use out of the bag, once you get used to the push button casting. The carrying bag is wonderful, and everything fits, with room for some bait, etc. It's already set up to use.When other more expensive adult poles were failing, this little pole did the trick and caught a fish. Comes with a decent variety of lures and weights, but only needed to add bait and a simple smaller hook.
